Image of the Week: EF-2000s in Singapore

EF-2000S IN SINGAPORE
The image above dates from July of 2004 and depicts two aircraft on the parking ramp at Paya Lebar in Singapore. The aircraft in question are a pair of EF-2000s which arrived at Paya Lebar to take part in a Singaporean Air Force evaluation to determine a replacement for the RSAF's A-4 Skyhawk fleet. The EF-2000 was pitted against the Dassault Rafale and the Boeing F-15E. The F-15E ended up winning the competition and the first Singaporean F-15SG models are due to be delivered in April of 2009. The image of the EF-2000s on the Paya Lebar ramp is interesting as it clearly demonstrates the need to be able to effectively determine the date when a given piece of imagery was taken. A less experienced analyst may have misinterpreted the currency of the above image and drawn an erroneous conclusion as to the presence of the Eurofighters in Singapore.

I live a mile from the base; it's true that the EF-2000s only came in 2004. The other planes also came, but at different times.

FYI, the base houses C-130s and F-5s. Occasionally, US planes stop by the base.
